Llega una nueva versión
de ‘El increíble Hulk’ al cine, esta
vez con Edward Norton como protagonista

06/13/08. Con su gran fuerza,
tamaño, velocidad, y esa piel verde que lo caracteriza,
Hulk ha conseguido ser uno de los superhéroes
más populares de la época contemporánea.
Creado por el guionista Stan Lee y el dibujante Jack
Kirby, el personaje debutó en mayo de 1962 en
una serie de Marvel Comics.
“Siempre me había encantado la vieja versión
de Frankenstein. Y me parecía que el monstruo,
interpretado por Boris Karloff, no era realmente malo.
Era el bueno. No quería lastimar a nadie. Pero
siempre era perseguido y gente inescrupulosa lo hacía
enojar. Y pensé: ¿No sería divertido
crear un monstruo y convertirlo en el bueno?”,
comenta Stan Lee sobre su personaje verde.
Ahora, tras varios años de espera, el científico
Bruce Banner (en esta ocasión interpretado por
el reconocido Edward Norton) trata de encontrar una
cura al experimento que le convierte en Hulk (o “el
Hombre Increíble” como se conoce en español)
cuando se irrita. Pero el oficial Emil Blonsky quiere
poseer los mismos poderes y repite el tratamiento de
Banner. El resultado es “La Abominación”,
que interpreta Tim Roth en esta nueva entrega de “Hulk”,
en la que Edward Norton sustituye a Eric Banna en el
papel protagonista. Así es como el científico
Bruce Banner se mantiene viviendo en las sombras, separado
de la vida normal y de la mujer que ama, la doctora
Elizabeth “Betty” Ross (Liv Tyler).
Para este filme, Norton se tomó muy en serio
la interpretación de uno de los superhéroes
más populares del mundo. La historia de Bruce
Banner y su secreto, “Hulk” había
despertado su interés desde pequeño. “Bruce
Banner juega con fuerzas secretas hasta que ese fuego
lo quema de tal modo que termina aislado de todo y se
convierte en un exiliado en su propia soledad”,
comenta el actor. “Esta historia del hombre honrado
y solitario que se impone un autoexilio en su intento
por proteger al mundo del terrible ser que habita en
su interior tiene algo con lo que creo que la gente
puede identificarse. Todos disfrutan de la historia
del hombre oprimido, perseguido y asediado en el que,
cada vez que lo presionan demasiado, se despierta un
freno ético”.
Norton, agrega que este personaje ha sido muy popular
por su afinidad con los adolescentes. “Para un
adolescente, hay en ello una fantasía espectacular.
Da esa sensación de estar solo, de estar excluido,
y la ilusión de que hay algo en tu interior que,
si te presionan demasiado, va a salir para defenderte.
Esto encaja perfectamente con el modo en que se siente
un adolescente, y es allí donde todo comienza”,
explica sobre el personaje que interpreta y que espera
dar un buen golpe en la taquilla mundial.

his great strength, size and speed, and
that characteristic green skin, Hulk has
achieved the status of being one of the
most popular super heroes of contemporary
times. Created by screenwriter Stan Lee
and cartoon artist Jack Kirby, the character
debuted in May of 1962 in a series of
Marvel Comics.
“I have always enjoyed the old version
of Frankenstein. And it seemed to me that
the monster, played by Boris Karloff,
wasn’t all that bad. He was good.
He didn’t want to hurt anyone. But
he was always being chased and unscrupulous
people made him mad. And I thought: ‘Wouldn’t
it be great to create a monster and make
him good?’” commented Lee
about the green character.
Now, after waiting many years, the scientists
Bruce Banner (played by Edward Norton
in this film) tries to find a cure to
the experiment that converts him into
the Hulk when he gets mad. But officer
Emil Blonsky wants to possess the same
powers and repeats Banner’s treatments.
The result is “The Abomination,”
played by Tim Roth in this new version
of “Hulk,” in which Edward
Norton replaces Eric Banna in the starring
role. That’s how scientist Bruce
Banner continues to live in the shadows,
separated from a normal life and from
the woman he loves, doctor Elizabeth “Betty”
Ross (Liv Tyler).
For this film, Norton took his role as
one of the most popular super heroes very
seriously. The story of Bruce Banner and
his secret, the Hulk, had piqued his interest
as a child.
“Bruce Banner plays with secret
strengths until that same fire burns him
in the way that he ends up being isolated
from everything and he becomes exiled
to his own solitude,” commented
the actor. “This story of the honest
and lonely man imposes a sort of self-exile
in his intent on protecting the world
from the horror that lives inside of him,
which is something I think people can
identify with. Everyone enjoys the story
of the oppressed, chased and besieged
man where, he is always heavily pressured,
an ethical brake is awakened.”
Norton, adds that this character has been
popular for his affinity with teenagers.
“For a teenager, there is a spectacular
fantasy. It gives that sensation of being
alone, of being excluded, and the illusion
that there is something inside of you,
that if you are pressured enough, it will
come out defensively. This fits perfectly
with how a teenager feels, and that’s
where everything starts,” he explains
about the character he plays and hopes
to make a dent in box offices all over
the world.
