Mike Myers vuelve al cine encarnando
a un guía espiritual en cuestiones románticas
en “The Love Guru”

famoso Mike Myers vuelve a la pantalla grande,
esta vez como un sabio del amor en la comedia
"The Love Guru". Mike Myers returns
to the big screen, this time as a guru of love
in the comedy "The Love Guru."

06/20/08. El comediante canadiense
Mike Myers llevaba un buen tiempo sin salir frente a
las cámaras en una película. Últimamente
sólo habíamos escuchado su voz en la película
animada “Shrek”. Pero ahora, tras ese largo
receso, regresa uno de los actores más exitosos
de la actualidad en Hollywood, que puede darse el lujo
de dejar pasar dos o tres años entre películas.
Es posible que hayan sido los problemas familiares los
que lo han mantenido alejado de los rodajes esta vez.
Myers se divorció de su esposa Robin Suzan en
2008, con quién llevaba casado 12 años.
Tal vez por ese motivo, irónicamente regresa
con un personaje que es todo un maestro en cuestiones
amorosas. Un consejero sentimental llamado Pitka en
“The Love Guru”, quien es un norteamericano
criado por los gurús de un pueblo de India, y
que regresa a su país con la intención
de hacerse rico y famoso transmitiendo sus experiencias
y consejos a las parejas que lo necesiten.
Su primera misión importante viene de la mano
de un jugador de hockey que quiere regresar con su esposa
que lo ha dejado por otro jugador de un equipo rival.
Fanático confeso del equipo de hockey canadiense
Toronto Maple Leafs, Myers escribió el guión
del film con la idea de incluir el deporte que lo apasiona.
De hecho, las escenas de juego se filmaron durante el
intermedio de un partido de ese equipo. Como si eso
fuera poco, Jessica Alba interpreta a la propietaria
del equipo, quien conoce a Pitka y pronto el gurú
del amor necesitará su propia terapia.
La película cuenta con Jessica Simpson, Justin
Timberlake, Meagan Good y el omnipresente Ben Kingsley,
bajo la dirección del desconocido Marco Schnabel.
Como cosa curiosa, Verne Troyer, el Mini-yo de Austin
Powers, regresa a acompañar a Myers, esta vez
como entrenador del equipo.
Sobre el filme, Myers dice que más que un reto,
las partes más divertidas, por ejemplo con los
elefantes, son logradas gracias al director Schnabel.
“Se lo debemos todo a Marco, que supo cómo
sacar ventaja de las situaciones”, dijo. “Terminamos
rodeados de un gran equipo de animales mezclados con
muñecos mecánicos que hicieron un maravilloso
conjunto de efectos especiales”, añadió
el actor.
Para los que lo estaban esperando y son seguidores de
Myers, el actor está confirmado para la nueva
entrega de "Shrek", que debutará en
2010, y también prepara la cuarta aventura de
su personaje más exitoso, Austin Powers. Los
detalles de la trama se mantienen bajo siete llaves,
pero ya se sabe que la modelo brasileña Gisele
Bündchen podría aparecer en el film.

Canadian comedian Mike Myers spent a while
without appearing in a new film. Most
recently, we only heard his voice in the
animated film “Shrek.” But
now, after such a long break, returns
one of the most recently successful comedians
in Hollywood, who has the luxury of letting
two or three years go by between films.
However, this time it was possibly family
problems that kept him away from films
after his divorce from Robin Suzan in
2005, they were together for 12 years.
Perhaps for that reason, ironically, he
returns with a character who is a master
when it comes to love. A sentimental counselor
named Pitka in “The Love Guru,”
who is a North American raised by gurus
in India. He returns to his native country
with the hopes of becoming rich and famous
by sharing his experiences and advice
with couples who come to him for help.
His first important mission is with a
hockey player who wants to get back together
with his wife who left him for a hockey
player from the rival team.
A confessed fanatic of the Toronto Maple
Leafs hockey team, Myers wrote the script
for the film with the idea to include
the sport he is a fan of. In fact, the
game scenes were shot during the intermission
at one of the team’s games. As if
that weren’t enough, Jessica Alba
plays the owner of the club, meets Pitka
and before you know it he will have to
apply his own therapy to himself.
The film counts on Jessica Simpson, Justin
Timberlake, Meagan Good and the omnipresent
Ben Kingsley, under the direction of the
unknown Marco Schnabel. On an interesting
note, Verne Troyer, Mini-me from "Austin
Powers," returns to Mike Myers’
side, but this time he’s the team’s
trainer.
Regarding the film, Mike Myers says it
was more than a challenge, the most enjoyable
parts, for example with the elephants,
are achieved thanks to director Schnabel.
“We owe it to Marco, who knew how
to take advantage of the situation,”
he said. “We ended up with a team
of different animals with mechanical dolls
who made a marvelous band of special effects,”
added the actor.
For those who were waiting and are fans
of Myers, it is confirmed he will be in
the next “Shrek,” which will
debut in 2010, and he will also prepare
the fourth adventure of his most successful
character, Austin Powers. The details
of the plot are being kept under lock
and key, but it is known Brazilian model
Gisele Bundchen might be part of the cast.
