Un oso muy particular en el cine
La llegada de ‘Kung Fu
Panda’ es la carta de Dreamworks este verano para
llegarle al público familiar

La
película animada, "Kung Fu Panda"
pelea esta semana por llegar a un buen puesto
dentro de las películas más taquilleras
del verano. This weekend the animated film,
"Kung Fu Panda" will fight to be among
the most successful films of the summer.

06/06/08. Bien calculado lo
tienen los estudios de Hollywood al querer sacar una
o dos películas animadas al año con el
fin de poder llegar al público infantil y familiar
en general. Y en esta ocasión, el turno lo tiene
Dreamworks, que trae “Kung Fu Panda”, en
el que un oso panda sueña con convertirse en
un maestro de artes marciales.
Los directores John Stevenson y Mark Osborne y la productora
Melissa Cobb fueron los primeros en el equipo de producción
en respaldar los lineamientos de esta historia para
hacerla película.
“Fue importante para todos nosotros desde el comienzo
que ‘Kung Fu Panda’ tuviera un tema, un
mensaje positivo en el que realmente creyéramos.
Queríamos que fuera una experiencia divertida,
cargada de comedia y mucha acción. Pero también
queríamos que la gente se quedara con algo, algo
que nosotros consideráramos valioso”, dijo
Osborne.
Al decidir que la historia de un oso panda persiguiendo
su sueño brindaría entretenimiento y una
moraleja, los realizadores estaban creando una fábula
particular:
La historia se basa en un oso grande y algo torpe, Po,
(caracterizado con la voz del cómico Jack Black),
que es gran admirador del Kung Fu… Después
de ser inesperadamente elegido para cumplir una antigua
profecía, los sueños de Po se vuelven
realidad cuando se une al mundo del Kung Fu y estudia
junto a sus ídolos, los legendarios Cinco Furiosos:
Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper y Monkey. Todo ello bajo
la guía de su gurú, el maestro Shifu.
Pero antes de que puedan imaginárselo, la vengativa
y traicionera Tai Lung se interpone en su camino, y
entonces queda sólo en manos de Po defender a
todos de esa amenaza.
Los productores pensaron desde un comienzo que la personalidad
de Jack Black encajaba perfectamente con este personaje.
Su gracia ya se ha visto en “Shark Tale”,
“School of Rock”, “Nacho Libre”
y “The Holiday”. Después de hacer
“Shark Tale”, los ejecutivos de Dreamworks
quedaron impresionados con su trabajo.
“Un día, Jeffrey Katzenberg se acercó
a mí y me dijo: ‘hey, hagamos otra. Esta
vez tú eres el protagonista, y la película
se llama ‘Kung Fu Panda’. Así que
me querían a mí”, dijo Black.
“Querían escuchar al verdadero yo. Entonces
pensé: ‘por supuesto, puedo hacer de mí
mismo’. Ha sido una especie de juego de niños
dentro de un estudio de grabación”, explicó
sobre su participación en esta película
animada, que tiene mucha diversión y acción.

movie studios have it well calculated,
to release one or two animated films every
year, with the goal of reaching younger
movie goers and their families. On this
occasion, it’s Dreamworks’
turn, who brings “Kung Fu Panda,”
in which a panda dreams of becoming a
master of martial arts.
Directors John Stevenson and Mark Osbourne
and producer Melissa Cobb were the first
to sign on to the production team to support
the films creation.
“It was important to all of us that
“Kung Fu Panda” have a theme
from the beginning, a positive message
that we really believed in. We wanted
it to be an enjoyable experience, full
of comedy and with a lot of action. But
we also wanted the public to leave with
something, something that we considered
valuable,” said Osbourne.
After realizing that the story of a panda
following his dream would provide entertainment
and a moral, the creators were creating
a particular fable:
The story is based on a big and clumsy
bear (voiced by Jack Black), who is a
Kung Fu admirer… After being selected
to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s
dreams become reality when he joins the
world of kung fu and studies alongside
his idols, the legendary Furious Five:
Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey
– under the guidance of the guru,
the master Shifu. But before they know
it, the vengeful and treacherous Tai Lung
gets in their way, and it is up to Po
to defend everyone from the oncoming threat.
Producers thought from the start that
Jack Black’s personality fit perfectly
with this character. His talents had been
seen in “Shark Tale,” “School
of Rock,” “Nacho Libre,”
and “The Holiday.” After making
“Shark Tale,” Dreamworks executives
were impressed with his work.
“One day Jeffrey Katzenberg told
me ‘hey, let’s make another.
This time you can be the star and the
film is called ‘Kung Fu Panda.’”
So that means they wanted me,” said
Black.
“They wanted to hear the real me.
At that point I thought: ‘of course
I can be me.’ It’s been playing
a kids game inside a recording studio,”
he explained, regarding his participation
in the animated film, which has a lot
of action and fun.
