We should start the
week off congratulating the cast of the
Broadway musical “In the Heights”
who have earned 13 Tony Award nominations,
the Oscars of the theater. “In the
Heights” has the most nominations
this year and tells the story of the Latino
families living in a New York barrio.
We talk about film because the whole world
is at the Cannes film festival right now.
The Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles
opened the festival with his latest feature
film, “Blindness,", about an
epidemic of blindness that the inhabitants
of a city suffer from, and only one woman
seems to be immune to it. The film is
based on a novel by the Portuguese writer
and Nobel prize winner Jose Saramago.
The film’s stars Julianne Moore
and our beloved Gael Garcia Bernal attended
the film’s premiere.
Also from Cannes comes what is surely
one of the most anticipated chismes. Actor
Jack Black and Angelina Jolie were doing
an interview for the “Today”
show when Black confirmed that the actress
is pregnant with twins, saying that once
she gives birth to her babies the actress
will have as many kids as they had on
the “Brady Bunch.”
And we leave you with Julieta Venegas
who is out promoting her “Unplugged”
session on MTV. If you are just as curious
as we are, you will have to wait until
June 5…
