Jolie estrena otra película
en Cannes

Francia Angelina Jolie, madre de cuatro niños,
y embarazada de gemelos, asegura que la trama de su
más reciente película le atinó
justo en un punto muy cercano y vulnerable: la pérdida
de un hijo.
Jolie protagoniza la nueva cinta de Clint Eastwood,
“Changeling”, basada en la historia real
de una mujer de Los Ángeles que tuvo que aguantar
horrores por parte de la Policía corrupta, mientras
intentaba averiguar qué había pasado con
su hijo, desaparecido en 1928.
“Perder un hijo: no puedo imaginar nada peor,
especialmente no saber la suerte que corrió ese
niño”, declaró la actriz luego de
una función de prensa de la película que
se estrenó el martes mismo en el Festival de
Cine de Cannes.
Jolie, de 32 años, interpreta a Christine Collins,
una mujer soltera que trabaja duro para poder mantener
a Walter, su hijo de 9 años. Un día el
pequeño desaparece y cinco meses después
la mujer vive una catarsis de felicidad cuando la Policía
le asegura que lo han encontrado sano y salvo.
No obstante, cuando le devuelven al supuesto Walter
Collins, su madre insiste en que ése no es su
hijo.
Jolie estuvo en Cannes para el estreno de “Changeling”
y el de la comedia animada “Kung Fu Panda”
que se presentó a inicios de esta semana.
Aunque la actriz dijo que podía imaginarse el
dolor y la frustración que hubiera vivido de
ser ella Christine, tuvo que salirse de su experiencia
con sus propios hijos y su posición de “mujer
muy moderna y muy franca”, para poder interpretar
el papel.

says the story behind her latest drama
hits close to home: the loss of a child.
Jolie stars in Clint Eastwood’s
“Cangeling,” the true story
of a Los Angeles woman who endured horrors
at the hands of corrupt police in her
crusade to find out what happened to her
son after he vanished in 1928.
“To lose a child: I can’t
imagine anything worse, especially not
knowing the fate of that child,”
Jolie told reporters after a press screening.
“Changeling” makes its formal
Cannes Film Festival premiere later Tuesday
night.
Jolie, 32, plays Christine Collins, a
single mom who works hard so she can take
good care of her 9-year-old boy, Walter.
The child disappears, and five months
later, the distraught Christine is overjoyed
when police tell her Walter has been found,
alive and well.
But when the boy claiming to be Walter
Collins is returned to her, Christine
insists that he isn’t her son.
Jolie was in Cannes for both “Changeling”
and her animated comedy “Kung Fu
Panda,” which premiered near the
beginning of the festival last week.
Though Jolie said she could imagine the
pain and frustration if she were in Christine’s
situation, she had to look beyond her
own children and position as a “very
modern and very outspoken woman”
to play the character.
